Few things in this
world are more delightful than chocolate, and few of us can resist
it. The Aztec and Mayan civilizations considered it a food of the
gods, and it is reported that the Aztec Emperor, Montezuma, drank up
to fifty cups of 'chocolatl' a day. The conquering Spaniards under
Cortez took the drink back to Spain, where it underwent a
transformation to a beverage more pleasing to their palate, and from
there, it spread throughout Europe. The first factory in the United
States in 1765, and the love affair between Americans and chocolate
began. The rest, as it is said, is history.
This page is my
tribute to what I feel is the world's most perfect food, and my
friends in the Quilting
Circle of Friends have been more than happy to help express my
obsession here, since most of them are practicing chocoholics like
me! Each square of this quilt is linked to its makers site so my
visitors here can also enjoy their web pages as well.
